Cash Contribution

The simplest and most direct way of putting your generosity to work is through a cash contribution. Two easy ways to do it:

Honorary or Memorial Donation

If you would like to give a contribution in honor or in memory of someone special, please indicate when you donate online or mail us your check at the address above. We will send notification to the honoree or family. Many people have found honorary donations to be meaningful “alternative gifts” for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations.

Charitable Bequest

Have you considered including NAMI Mercer in your will? A bequest is a mechanism through which you choose to leave a specific amount, percentage, or remainder of your estate's assets to NAMI Mercer. Please contact us directly for information on how to do so.

Appreciated Property and Life Insurance Gifts

Gifts of appreciated property such as stocks, mutual funds, bonds, IRA's, retirement plans, and some real estate provide another way to contribute to NAMI Mercer. At the same time, you may receive significant tax benefits. Another possibility is to name NAMI Mercer as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy.

Matching Gift from Employers

Some companies match the charitable contributions of their employees, retirees, and/or spouses. Please take a moment to contact your personnel or human resources department to request a matching gift form. Send us the form with your donation. We will complete the form and return it to your company. In past years, matching gift programs have contributed thousands of dollars to NAMI Mercer.

United Way Donor Option

When making your yearly gift to the United Way, you have the opportunity to direct all or a portion of it to NAMI Mercer. Our donor option number is 017126#.

Designated Giving

Perhaps there is a NAMI Mercer program that is especially important to you. Tell us where you would like your gift directed, and we will do the rest.

Corporate Support

Your corporation can help NAMI Mercer through direct and in-kind contributions. Each year, we hold two major fundraisers ––Night Out with NAMI and a NAMI walk-a-thon (NAMIWalk)–– that depend on corporate sponsorship. We also rely on grants to sustain our free programs for the public. Please let us know if you have a grant opportunity for which we can apply.

What is NAMI?

NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots organization for people with mental illness and their families.

Founded in 1979, NAMI has affiliates in every state and in more than 1,100 local communities across the country. NAMI Mercer is the largest local affiliate in the state of New Jersey.

NAMI has been rated by Worth magazine as one of the top 100 charities "most likely to save the world." We have earned an "A" rating by the American Institute of Philanthropy for efficient and effective use of charitable dollars.
